• January 2022 Senior Moments

    By Teresa Kempisty

We all wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous year.  I have decided to open the next chapter in my life and retire as of Jan. 31.  It has been such a pleasure working here for the past 7 ½ years and it was so important for me to know that the center will be in good hands and it will be with Kristen Campbell as Coordinator and Ruth Heaney as Assistant Coordinator.  Please give these ladies your continued support, because they will be working hard to bring joy, information, socialization, lunches etc. to all seniors.  I want to thank all of you seniors and the Board of Directors for making my job so much easier with all the volunteering, support, kind words, etc.  Please know that I will miss you all, but you will see me again.  Now I can play Bingo at the Senior Center with my Mom!  Please remember this is your center so come and enjoy it, make suggestions if you have ideas, but most of all, keep this a friendly and welcoming place for all seniors to enjoy.

However you will have to wait to come in, because the decision has been made by the
Board of Directors to close the center for the month of January in an abundance of caution, because of the rising numbers of COVID again in Frederick County. We apologize for any inconveniences, as we are trying to keep our seniors safe.  We will evaluate the situation towards the end of January to see if we can open in February.

Kristen and I will still be training, but the center will be closed.  The center will still be delivering meals to those who don’t drive and providing rides within Thurmont.  Call the center to arrange this or if you have questions at 301-271-7911.

Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year!
